But there's one deadline you can't afford to miss.
Your license is on a separate clock. In Texas, a DWI arrest usually starts two cases: the criminal case, and a separate case to suspend your driver's license. You generally have 15 days from your arrest to request a hearing to fight that suspension, called an ALR hearing. If you miss it, the suspension can take effect automatically, before your criminal case has even started.
